Q: Why hire a professional painter?
A:
You can definitely pay less for someone less experienced, but by hiring a professional painter, you come out ahead when it comes to safety and quality.  We are able to paint much faster than a hobby or volunteer painter.  Hours are spent every week practicing skills and speed so that when hired, you get the most for your money.  Some area painters use photo samples of designs that belong to someone else - when you hire Omaha Masquerade, you can be assured that the designs shown on our site are actual photos of our own work, and are the same quality and vibrant designs that you will get at your party or event.  We use top-quality FDA approved cosmetic face paints and cosmetic glitter approved for use around the eyes - which is very important! You do not want stains on your carpet, rashes on your guests skin or crackling paint being applied at your party. If you choose to hire another company, make sure you find out what kind of supplies they use, and that the glitter does not contain aluminum, which can scratch, cut and seriously damage the eyes.

Q: Do you carry liability insurance?
A: Yes! Omaha Masquerade LLC is one of the few, if not only, fully licensed and insured face painting provider in the Omaha metro. What does this mean for you? Added protection and security. We have never had an incident, but just in case a rowdy kiddo knocks over our yucky paint water and it ruins your designer rug, you're covered!  Or if one our artists gets rushed at the door by your super-excited kiddos, and your $1000 vase becomes collateral damage, you're covered!  Some other face painting companies will only use Snazaroo paints, as it comes with it's own liability insurance against reactions to the paints.  But this isn't enough to cover other potential mishaps or property damage - be sure to ask if they carry insurance that covers any artist that might show up at your door!

Q: What types of designs can I expect during our party time?
A: We do full faces - such as those seen around our site!  A lot of customers just expect a butterfly or heart on the cheek.  Guests at our parties can expect full service for less!! (of course we do offer the smaller designs for cheeks/arms for those not wanting their full face painted)

Q: Do you require a deposit?
A:
We do require a booking fee of 50% of your reservation to hold the date.  The fee is required to protect us from last minute cancellations as we turn away business after we have booked your event, and booking fees are non-refundable.  This fee is applied towards your reservation total and the balance is collected upon arrival at your event. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and Paypal (you may use AMEX through Paypal) for your convenience.  If you choose to mail a check, this is required within 7 days of booking, and no later than 10 days before your scheduled event.

Q: How far in advance do I need to make my reservation?
A:
It is never too early to book your event!  Our artists are in high demand, especially in the summer months! We have also been featured in newspapers, radio spots and our large festivals where we see an increase in bookings during publications. You should make your reservation as soon as you know the date/time of your event to ensure that it is available. Weekends book up fast with weddings and bridal/bachelorette/baby showers, and especially around holidays, so don't wait too long.

Q: What do I need to provide for the face painter?

A: Space! If indoors, a place with good lighting.  If outdoors, a shaded area free from pets.  (Please note: TREES are not adequate shade sources - please provide a canopy, tent or some other covered area. When the sun moves, so does the shade!)  We provide our own table, stools and supplies.  Activities for waiting children are strongly recommended.  An adult should be supervising waiting children to avoid conflicts in line and help the painter keep things moving smoothly, and to keep little hands out of our paints and supplies in order to keep them sanitary.  Our painters will not attempt to resolve conflict unless a danger to the child(ren) exists, at which point overtime charges may apply for the time lost in painting.  It works best for everyone involved if only a few children are waiting in line at a time.

Q: Will my child be able to sleep with the face paints?
A: Our face paints are created by world famous cosmetics companies.  They are water based, and without a special solution to make the design "permanent", the designs will smudge or smear, and are easily removed with soap and water.  While the child can certainly wear the paints to bed, there will be more color on their pillow than on their face in the morning!  It is best to wash the paints off before bed, as a mom would do with her own make-up.  If children are going to be participating in water play during or after face painting, you may wish to consider glitter tattoos as an alternative.

Q: How old does my child have to be to get face painted?
A: We can paint for all ages, from 2 to 115.  All we ask is that your child be able to sit still by him/herself for a few moments at a time, and WANT to be painted.  We will not paint on a child who is forced to sit still or appears to be afraid.  Our opinion is that it will create a fear in the child, and as they get older they will associate face painting with negative or scary feelings.  Typically children under age 3 will not sit well for face painting, so a small design on the hand or arm may be a better choice.

Q: Do you do body painting or prenatal painting?
A:
Yes!  Body/Belly painting is available by personal appointments only, although I can travel to your location for an additional fee.  Please contact us for more details.
Q. Can you do Henna tattoos for my event?
A: Yes! We offer henna by the hour for your corporate events, Girls Night Out, bachelorette parties, School functions, Prom/After-Prom events and more! Contact us for hourly rates.

Q: I live outside the Omaha area.  Do you travel?
A: Yes! Please call us for requirements and pricing for locations greater than 30 miles.  If we do not meet your budget, we can help you find another painter that may be able to assist you with your event.

Q: Will you consider donating your services for our fundraising event or charity?
A: Jumpers 4 You and Omaha Masquerade budget a specific amount each year to donate to the charitable causes of our choice.  As much as we would love to donate for all charitable events, we are still running a business and must pay for our own expenses.  We can, however, offer deeply discounted pricing for face painting and inflatables based upon the requesting organization and our schedule.  Please call us to discuss your needs.
